Doofinder alternative: keep it for search, add OneSite Assistant for described needs

Doofinder is a search layer with recommendations, a quiz maker and, on its higher plans, an AI assistant. OneSite Assistant does one job: it answers a shopper who writes a sentence. If you need search and merchandising, keep Doofinder; if sentence-style questions come back empty or noisy, the two can sit side by side.

Choose Doofinder if

  • You want a full search layer. Its pricing page lists recommendations, voice search, a quiz maker and searchandising on every plan, and category merchandising on Advanced.
  • You run more than Shopify: the page names Shopify, BigCommerce, WooCommerce, Adobe and PrestaShop, and its menu lists Magento and “other platforms”.
  • Your search traffic is steady enough to budget by request volume.

Choose OneSite Assistant if

  • Your shoppers describe instead of naming: “something for my dad who likes history”, “a quiet game for four”.
  • You want a top pick with a stated reason rather than a results page, and a record of the requests your catalogue could not answer, in the shoppers’ own words.
  • You prefer a plan by catalogue size, with no charge per question, to a plan by monthly requests.

Side by side

Main job

Doofinder: search, recommendations, quiz and an AI assistant. OneSite Assistant: a top pick from your catalogue for a described need, plus a few alternatives, each with a one-line reason.

Price

Doofinder, per its pricing page as of 16 October 2026: Basic €49 a month (€44 billed annually) for up to 10,000 requests a month, Pro €149 (€134) for up to 150,000, Advanced €349 (€314) for up to 400,000, Enterprise on request. Ours is on the pricing page, by catalogue size.

What counts as a request

Per the same page: each time its server responds to an action, including searches, indexing (an export of 1,000 items counts as 10 requests), API calls and crawled pages. The page does not state a trial length.

AI assistant

Doofinder lists its AI Assistant for Pro, Advanced and Enterprise, and a quiz maker on every plan. Both take shoppers further than a keyword box, so test them against us rather than assuming.

What we do not do

No filters on your collection pages, no results page, no support chat.

Using both

OneSite Assistant is a separate theme block. It does not replace your search bar, so a store can keep Doofinder for search and add the assistant for the shoppers who do not know what to type.

Test it on your own shoppers’ words

Do not decide from a feature table, ours included. Open your store’s search log and take five real queries: two that found the right product, two that found nothing, one written as a sentence. Run them through the tool you use today and through the OneSite Assistant demo, and compare what comes back.

If the tool you already use answers them well, keep it. If the sentence-style queries come back empty, that is the gap we are built for.
