Octane AI alternative: a quiz you design, or free-text questions answered from your catalogue

Octane AI is a product-quiz platform for Shopify: you design the questions, shoppers answer them, and the answers go to your marketing tools. OneSite Assistant starts from the shopper’s own sentence instead of your quiz. If a designed quiz is what you want, keep Octane.

Choose Octane if

  • You want a quiz funnel you design step by step, with the shopper’s answers passed to your email tools: its pricing page lists Klaviyo and Shopify sync from the Basic plan.
  • You run on Shopify only: the page describes a product-quiz platform for Shopify.
  • You want A/B testing and custom CSS for the quiz: the page lists them on Plus.

Choose OneSite Assistant if

  • Your shoppers already know what they want to say and would rather type it than click through steps: “a quiet game for four”.
  • You do not want to design and maintain quiz branches; the assistant works from your catalogue and descriptions.
  • You want the requests your catalogue could not answer, in the shoppers’ own words.

Side by side

Main job

Octane: a designed product quiz that also collects the shopper’s answers. OneSite Assistant: free-text questions answered with a top pick from your catalogue and a reason.

Price

Octane, per its pricing page as of 16 October 2026: Basic $50 a month ($43 billed annually) with 400 credits and two quizzes, Plus $200 ($170) with 2,200 credits and more quizzes, Enterprise from $500 ($425) with 7,250 credits and up. Extra credits cost $0.10 each. A 14-day trial. Ours is on the pricing page.

What a credit is

Per the same page: one credit is one completed quiz. AI features use extra credit per interaction; its example is a completed quiz with AI recommendations using about 1.3 credits. So the bill follows how many shoppers finish a quiz.

What we do not do

No filters on your collection pages, no support chat.

Using both

The assistant is a separate theme block. A store can keep an Octane quiz for the shoppers who like to be guided and add the assistant for those who would rather just ask.

Test it on your own shoppers’ words

Do not decide from a feature table, ours included. Open your store’s search log and take five real queries: two that found the right product, two that found nothing, one written as a sentence. Run them through the tool you use today and through the OneSite Assistant demo, and compare what comes back.

If the tool you already use answers them well, keep it. If the sentence-style queries come back empty, that is the gap we are built for.
